Felipe (Phillip) Rudge Barbosa =
Dr. Rudge Barbosa holds
B.Sc. from the Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ); and M.Sc. in Physics
and Ph.D. in Electrical
Engineering from the University of Campinas (Unicamp), in Brazil. He has
been active in Photonics Technology and Optical Communications (components,
systems and networks) for over 35 years. He is presently senior research
associate, and associate professor with the Photonics Technology
Laboratory (LTF), in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (FEEC) –
at Unicamp. He was previously project manager, and leader of technical staff, in
Fundaçao CPqd (formerly Telebrás) and in the National Center for Information
Technology (CTI/CENPRA), in Brasil. He has been a post-doc fellow at the
University of Colorado, Boulder, USA and visiting lecturer at the University of
Montpellier, France. He has over 100
peer-reviewed publications in international conferences and technical journals.
He is member of the Brazilian Physical Society (SBF); and senior member of
Brazilian Society for Microwave and Optoelectronics (SBMO), holding chairs in
Fiscal and Advisory councils. He is founding member of the newly formed
Brazilian Photonics Society (SBFoton) where he has also been chairing in the
Director staff as well as Fiscal and Advisory councils He serves in several technical
committees of national and international conferences. He is a member the IEEE
ComSoc, the Society for Optical Engineers (SPIE), the Optical Society of America
(OSA), and consulting expert to the ITU-T (Geneva). Dr, Rudge holds two
technical prizes, four patents, and one merit of honor in Telecom.
